Overview
This website (dayfi.co) is the public face of Dayfi Technologies Ltd, a Nigerian holding company building the future of money in Africa. We collect as little personal information as possible here. Where you use Obba — Dayfi’s WhatsApp-first money and cryptocurrency product — additional information is processed as described below so we can identify customers, prevent financial crime, and deliver the service.
What we collect on this site
If you write to us through the contact form or email, we receive your name, email address, and message. Our host may log standard technical data — IP address, browser type, pages viewed — to keep the site secure and reliable.
What Obba may collect
When you use Obba, Dayfi may process information needed for onboarding, account operation, and compliance, including:
- identity information and government-issued identification;
- biometric or liveness checks where enabled for verification;
- Nigerian identity checks such as BVN where applicable;
- WhatsApp phone number and chat instructions you send to Obba;
- account, wallet, ledger, and transaction records;
- authentication data such as a transaction PIN (set in a secure browser flow, not through ordinary chat); and
- information needed to assess fraud, sanctions, or other financial-crime risk.
Sensitive identity verification is completed through secure browser-based flows. Ordinary WhatsApp conversation is not used as the place to collect that verification data when a secure flow is required.
How we use it
On dayfi.co, we use contact details only to reply to your message and, where relevant, to follow up on partnerships or support. We do not sell personal data. We do not send marketing without your consent.
For Obba, we use personal information to verify identity, open and operate accounts, authorize transactions, monitor unusual activity, meet AML/CFT and sanctions obligations, keep records, and improve security. KYC status and transaction authorization are determined by Dayfi’s backend systems — not by chat history or AI replies alone.
Third-party providers
Dayfi may share information with specialist providers only as needed to deliver Obba and meet legal duties. Today that can include Smile ID for identity verification, Quidax for supported cryptocurrency infrastructure and execution, and WhatsApp as the customer communication channel. Providers do not replace Dayfi’s responsibility for customer and transaction controls in its own systems.
Data protection & retention
Dayfi processes personal information in line with applicable Nigerian data-protection requirements, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. We apply purpose limitation, data minimisation, security, accuracy, retention limits, and access controls. We keep onboarding, verification, transaction, and compliance records for as long as law and operational requirements require.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — including under Nigeria’s NDPA — you may ask to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, subject to legal retention and compliance limits. Email privacy@dayfi.co or hi@dayfi.co from the address you used to contact us. Where a matter involves sanctions or suspicious-activity reporting, we may only share information that can lawfully be disclosed.
